WHY MUMMY
By REBECCA SAVORY (12 YEARS)
Why
did you have to leave Mummy?
Why
couldn't you stay?
Why
did you just go Mummy?
On
that lazy summers day
You
said you were getting petrol Mummy
You
said that you'd be back
You
even promised me a lollypop Mummy
But
then came the attack
I
need you more than ever Mummy
Now
that you haven't returned
I've
waited five years Mummy
And
now I've finally learnt
You're
not coming back Mummy
From
getting petrol that day
You've
gone up to heaven Mummy
And
that’s where you're going to stay
They
said you had a year Mummy
But
that was all a lie
The
cancer had already spread Mummy
And
they knew you were going to die
I
still kiss you goodnight Mummy
The
way I used to do
But
instead of the real thing Mummy
It's
just a photo of you
20
Years Later
Someone
saved my life today Mummy
And
do you know why?
I
inherited your cancer Mummy
And
I was going to die
Someone
lowered the mammogram age Mummy
And
so I'm still alive
They
detected it early Mummy
So
I'll see my daughter turn five
Someone
lowered the mammogram age Mummy
But
it was too late for you
Now
others won't loose their Mummy's
Like
me when I was two
Why
did you have to leave Mummy?
Why
couldn't you stay?
Why
did you just go Mummy?
On that lazy summers day
